About

We invite you to attend these free workshops designed to explain to you what is possible as a homeschooling parent, provide for you lists of resources and supports, and help you network with other local homeschooling families.

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatoh.

My name is Cheryfa Jamal. I am the host of this website and Insha’Allah, will be the main speaker in these workshops within the GTA. (Greater Toronto Area). Many of you sisters in the GTA, and Mississauga in particular, know me as the school bus driver.  (I’m smiling a welcome under my veil, can’t you tell?)

I am a revert to Islam since Ramadhan 1994, Alhamdulillah. I have some experience in homeschooling; I homeschooled 2 of my sons through 4 grades, before there were very many supports and resources as there are today. My sons were able to return to the public school system seamlessly, one has graduated with Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, and the other  currently in University, soon to graduate in Bachelor of Technology; Computer Science, (a bridge from an Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology).

Today all provincial Ministries of Education support homeschooling, some even offer high school online for free, such as VLC in Ontario, (Virtual Learning Center – from the Ministry of Education as a complement to public schooling).

When I am no longer able to host the site, or teach the workshops, I pray that ICNA Sisters Wing will continue this Sadaqa Jariya and assign whom they deem qualified for these responsibilities, InshaAllah.

Intention

Facing the present challenges we are now being threatened by, with new ideologies being forced upon our children, and the erosion of parental rights regarding our children's education and even their healthy development, many Muslim families are considering homeschooling.

I pray I can make this decision easier for you, provide strategies, and point to resources, so that you can make an informed decision regarding this method of education for your children.

Vision

I hope to provide a template for other homeschooling families across Canada, providing space to add the regulations and resources specific to their regions, and provinces. This website is for anyone who wants to know how to homeschool, and where to find resources, whether you join our workshops or not. Other experienced homeschooling mothers can use this site as a resource to teach workshops in their regions.

Each one teach one is the foundation. A few can teach many and show the way. We can all help each other, expanding our reach and resources.
